The European Research Council awards ERC Starting Grants based on a competitive selection procedure. It thus enables early stage researchers, after obtaining a doctoral degree, to form their own research group. With the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships, the European Union promotes the mobility of early stage researchers by enabling research stays at universities all over Europe and worldwide.
