Europäische Studien – Management von EU Projekten

zulassungsbeschränkt

Our Master´s Programme, designed for participants from a wide variety of educational, professional and national backgrounds, gives you a broad vision of the European Union and brings forth experts in management of EU-project issues combining theory, research and practice. The comprehensive and modularized curriculum is tailormade for those who wish to take part in shaping the EU-network and equips our graduates with the knowledge and skills to be able to pursue a career in institutions connected with the EU.

If you would like to study with us, you will ideally already be working in an international environment – perhaps even in an EU-context – or be entrusted with the management of EU-projects. The European Union with its many facets interests you and you want to dedicate yourself more intensively to tasks arising from the EU-context in the future? English as a language of instruction is an additional asset for you? Then you are the type of candidate we are looking for in the Master’s degree programme European Studies – Management of EU-Projects. The course programme conveys a generalist understanding of the EU, as well as hands-on skill sets for EU-project management.

The course of study is part-time and we readily admit that we demand a lot from our students. As a university of applied sciences with over 70% of its students working part-time, we are familiar with the specific needs of persons who study alongside their jobs. We react to this by announcing any attendance dates well in advance and face-to-face meetings are already fixed at the time of your application. On the other hand, we try to keep attendance at a minimum. At least 30% of your studies are held online with additional teaching input, guest lectures, group meetings or case studies in virtual classrooms. Some of the modules are designed as asynchronous online teaching – which means you can define your own hours. During the semester, you should therefore reserve your evenings for online class sessions. In general, the temporal structure of the study programme is such that you do not have to take any holidays or time off to meet attendance requirements or manage your online phases. Nevertheless, you should give this study project the place it deserves in your life.

Should you feel like going on to working on a doctorate, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland offers you the possibility to apply to its advanced international PhD-programme. Graduates of the Master’s programme European Studies – Management of EU-Projects are invited to apply for the PhD-Programme in International Economic Relations and Management.

Highlights

A special feature of the course programme is its interdisciplinary and international orientation, which opens doors to a wide variety of professional opportunities in an EU-context. You will be immersed in political science and legal perspectives of the EU; this forms the basis on which you build your skills in EU-project management as well as in intercultural management with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe.

Study trips to the EU-institutions in Brussels as well as to another EU-member state or to a candidate country from Central and Eastern Europe make the European Union „tangible“ for you.

The course offers a successful combination of theoretical content and practical know-how. During the course programme you have the opportunity to get certified in International Project Management (Certified Junior Project Manager according to IPMA Level D (Link: www.p-m-a.at).

What also makes this master’s programme special is its teaching staff: a mixture of practitioners and university professors. Thus, some of the lecturers actually work in EU- institutions in Brussels. Others work in top positions in the Austrian administration or government, such as minister’s offices or in regional governments. Partners of well-known law firms, as well as top-notch project managers are among the lecturers. University professors of economics, political science and communication provide the theoretical background. We bring current EU topics into the course by inviting guest lecturers.
